Today we will go on an unusual journey to the royal lands!
Having left Kaliningrad early in the morning, we move to the east of the region.
On the way, you will visit the city Gusev.
Here you can see the famous fresco by Otto Heichert (1912), miraculously preserved in the assembly hall of the College of Agricultural Technologies and Environmental Engineering (formerly the Higher German School for Boys).
The fresco depicts a historical event - King Frederick William I, who meets immigrants from Salzbugr with the words: “I have new sons, you have a sweet Motherland!”
Then you will be taken to the Red Forest - Rominter Heide - once the largest forest in Germany!
During the Teutonic Order, this forest served as a hunting ground for the grandmaster and the knights.
From the XVIII century The Red Forest turned into a nature reserve, and became known as the imperial hunting residence, where both Emperor Nicholas II and Count S.Yu. Witte.
Nearby is the Zayets Manor with a cozy atmosphere of the Prussian settlement and delicious cuisine!
People from all over the area come here to taste homemade food, but not only for this!
Here guests can enjoy riding, kayaking and a Russian wood-fired sauna.
Also be sure to visit the village of Chistye Prudy.
And on the Russian-Lithuanian border there is another miracle, a real “European Baikal” - Lake Vishtynets - a natural complex famous for “beaver cities”, amazing fauna and numerous springs.
Believe me, you just need to be here!
