Baltma Tours

about this tour

Kaliningrad is located on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea
and since 1946 is the center of the westernmost region of Russia.
For Russians, as well as for residents of the whole world, Kaliningrad, first of all,
known as the former capital of East Prussia - Koenigsberg.
Today's Kaliningrad fancifully combines
signs of the modern Russian city and European one.
German and Russian history weaved here into a single thread of time, moving into new forms.
And guests of Kaliningrad will be able to see the 700-year history of the city.

The Cathedral

The Cathedral

The oldest cathedral church in Koenigsberg was built by Bishop Siegfried of Zemland, between 1297-1302.

  • There are two organs in the Cathedral.
The first one is small, choral, and the second one, the largest in Russia, has 4 manuals, 90 registers and over 6,000 pipes.

Immanuel Kant

Immanuel Kant

As the Cathedral of East Prussia, it served as the burial place of the most prominent representatives of the higher secular and spiritual hierarchy.

  • The great German philosopher Immanuel Kant was buried at the northeast corner of the Cathedral on February 28, 1804.

Friedland gate

Friedland gate

The Friedland Gate Museum is located in a 19th-century architectural monument.

Under high brick vaults there is a real cobblestone pavement, which is already a century and a half.

  • The exposition of the Friedland Gate Museum is based on the theme of Garden City.

The gate of time

The gate of time

A virtual walk through the streets of old Koenigsberg, incredible in terms of emotional impact, begins in the large hall.

  • The real cobblestone road preserved inside the Friedland Gate is “connected” with the virtual one projected onto the blocked gate openings.

The transmitted paintings seem to “remove” the walls, pushing the boundaries of the reality and opening the “temporary portal” to the past.
